Oil Deliveries To Many Homes Affected By Freezing Weather Conditions

March 7th, 2010 - By allanmadams

With the freezing weather sweeping across the country there were fresh concerns as many homes are now facing the prospect of having no heating oil. There has already been one oil company that simply cannot keep up with the oil demands. This company are finding it extremely tough to keep up with the increase in oil orders and residential homes are bearing the brunt of this. And because they had to cancel some deliveries of oil, some residents in Berkshire have been left without any heating oil for over a month.

They have offered sincere apologies to these residents and assured them that they are doing everything in their power to try to get these orders met. But with this weather set to continue for a while there are residents in other parts of the country who are worrying that they could be next.

The freezing conditions and icy roads were once again a concern this week as fresh snow fell and again turned to ice overnight. Oil delivery lorries are now finding it extremely tricky to get to some parts of the country because of the icy conditions on the roads.

The weather is having a two fronted attack on oil companies as they cannot keep up with the demands and they are finding it difficult to get the oil out to customers. Oil companies are struggling to cope with the increased orders and they are becoming increasingly hard to contact also. Many customers simply cannot get through to place their oil orders.

The government is doing all it can to try to reduce these problems with oil delivery drivers being permitted to work longer hours by the Department For Transport in order to get orders out. Some parts of the country were beginning to get back to normal when snow began to fall again and many are now wondering how long these conditions are likely to last.

Heating ones home in the cold months of winter can cost a fair packet. Fuel such as electricity and gas show no signs of coming down in price. Clever people are switching to heating oil as a fuel though. After the changeover they have to make sure that the storage tanks are always full of Boilerjuice ensuring they can always heat their home in winter.

Roof Insulation And A Green Lifestyle

March 2nd, 2010 - By allanmadams

Not having the right roof insulation can mean spending an arm and leg on your energy. Knowing about your insulation and what your needs are can not only alleviate financial stress, but also can be an ecological step in the right direction. It does not matter whether you own a home or a business, this applies to you.

A small attic is not a wise in colder climates. They are hard to insulate and do not provide enough of a buffer zone to fill with insulation. Attics are important for insulating in cold regions. This where you can take measures to make sure that the heat you work hard to pay for stays inside with you, and the cold you are escaping from stays outdoors.

Hot climates shift the insulating focus slightly. Roof reflectors to minimize the effects of the hot sun are what is of concern. This will help the keep the inside feeling comfortably cool. It will also reduce wear and tear on your cooling unit. With this change in priority it is the roof design and not the ceiling design that is important.

In regions where people get to experience the weather with every season, insulation starts to get a little complicated. To really ensure that you are making the most of your money you will need to pay attention to the guidelines for both hot and cold climates. This means insulating your attic and utilizing roof reflectors.

To insulate, you may use just one type of materials, or a variety. The market today has an array of choices to choose from. There once was a line of pink fiberglass commercials that still come to mind when thinking about insulation. There are many choices though, and you will need to determine what you prefer to have, and also what will be the best choice for your building design.

Building codes differ from one locality to another, so please be sure to check before purchasing anything. Roof insulation can be a simple solution to a costly problem.

How Do Engineers Use The Earth’s Heat To Create Geothermal Energy?

February 27th, 2010 - By admin

The engineers pump hot water down into the hot soil/rocks expecting them to get boiled and made into steam, then its directed to the turbines which spin and produce energy.

How Gold Coast ducted air conditioners work

February 27th, 2010 - By allanmadams

With a ducted air conditioning system basically your Gold Coast air conditioner is hidden away, normally in your roof space. Normally , one central unit is sufficient for your house; ducting carries air from your home to the air conditioner and the air is then heated or cooled to keep your indoor air temperature constant.

Air vents are cut into your ceiling and then the air conditioner connected to the ducting. This enables one Gold Coast ducted air conditioning unit to serve your whole home.

Assuming your home is on two or more levels, you can still have ducted air conditioning installed - you can go for two or more smaller units, or have duct risers installed.A duct riser is simply a vertical duct connecting two or more levels, allowing you to transfer air from the air conditioner in the roof space to lower levels through a duct hidden away in a cupboard.

Gold Coast air conditioning provides cooling and dehumidification during the hot, humid months. During winter, air conditioning can provide energy-efficient heating. As well as maintaining a constant temperature in your home, excessive moisture is removed from the air by the dehumidifier.

Fundamental to all Gold Coast air conditioning installations is a heat exchange pump.Rather than converting electricity directly into heat energy, the electricity is used to move heat energy. The heat energy transfers to and from the air in your home by the use of refrigerants inside the heat pump.

In summer, excess heat energy is transferred from the air indoors to the air outdoors, cooling your home down. As the air is chilled, excess moisture is removed from the air as well.

In winter, heat energy is transferred from the outside air to the indoor air via the heat exchange pump. By moving heat energy into your room in this way, you can gain up to 4kW of heat energy from each 1kW of electricity that is consumed.

For more information on ducted air conditioning, please contact a Gold Coast air conditioning company. A reputable Gold Coast air conditioning company should be able to advise you on the correct sized air conditioner and ducting installation suitable for your home will be able to advise you as to the correct size of air conditioner and ducting installation for your home. Always seek professional advice from a Gold Coast Air Conditioning Specialist and make sure you get 3 quotes and testimonials from satisfied cusomers.

Gold Coast Air Conditioning Issues

February 24th, 2010 - By allanmadams

There are several types of air conditioners, including window-mounted air conditioners, ducted air conditioners and portable air conditioners. Picking the right one comes down to your taste, budget and specific living environment requirements, and is the first thing you need to discuss with your Gold Coast air conditioner specialist. in addition, some air conditioners come with inverter technology. Second, make sure you have the proper size air conditioning unit for the job. Selecting an air conditioner that is too small for the job puts undue stress on your air conditioner. You also need talk to your Gold Coast air conditioner specialist about choosing an eco-friendly air conditioner to reduce the CO2 emissions . The third step is making sure your Gold Coast air conditioning specialist installs and seals the air conditioner properly, ensuring you do not have cool air leaking outside. In addition, make sure you clean and check the air conditioning filters on your unit regularly, to keep your air conditioner running more efficiently and looking after your family health. Talk to your Gold Coast air conditioner specialist about running costs before you choose the type and location of your air conditioning unit. How much you use different areas of the house, and the size of your family, may result in significant savings on costs. A whole-house, reverse cycle type, air conditioning unit can cost as much as 90 cents per hour to run in a poorly insulated homee, while a single room air conditioner may cost nearer 35 cents per hour; if you spend most of your time in one room, you can save a significant amount of money by air conditioning just that one room. A 2 - 3 star air conditioning unit can cost between 30 and 34 cents an hour to run, while a 4 - 5 star air conditioner might cost between 34 and 38 cents an hour. A ducted reverse cycle air conditioner with a zoning system costs 36 and 54 cents per hour, while a whole-house reverse cycle air conditioning will cost between 63 and 91 cents per hour. In contrast, a fan or an evaporative cooler will cost around two cents per hour to run; so if you have both air-conditioners and fans, only run the air-conditioning when necessary. Factors that impact on these running costs include insulation; A house that is well insulated will obviously cost less to cool than a house that has no insulation. The installation of your air conditioner by your Gold Coast air-conditioner specialist is also a factor, depending on how well it is sealed. The other major factor is the temperature at which your air conditioners set. For every degree you raise the temperature you can save up to 5% on your air conditioning costs. Keeping your air conditioning filters clean will help, as the air conditioner has to work harder if it is working through a layer of dust. A further money saver is closing curtains and blinds, especially those facing the sun. An, of course, a window mounted air conditioner requires that you keep the door to that room closed. Choosing a competent Gold Coast air conditioning specialist will obviously help, as they can advise you on many of these factors and discuss with you the most appropriate location and type of air conditioning. Source for the running costs quoted are a public report on Air Conditioning costs published by the Victorian Government.

Residential Heating Using Geothermal Energy

February 24th, 2010 - By allanmadams

Up until recently there were a few common systems that could be used to heat your home – there was the fireplace, radiant heater, fan heaters or an air conditioner amongst others

Geothermal residential heating is becoming an increasingly popular option that can be added to this list of methods for heating your homeThis source of energy comes from beneath the earth’s surface. At the earth’s core there is a massive amount of heat being produced which radiates out towards the surface creating an enormous reserve of potential energy

If you are looking for information about the Advantages Of Geothermal Energy click here: Geothermal Energy Advantages

So what is the method for accessing this huge energy source and directing it towards the heating of our homes?

The answer is by using some simple technologies that make geothermal residential heating possibleInstallation requires pipes to be run through the earth beneath your house, with the exact configuration varying from house to house.

The earth surrounding these pipes will remain at a fairly constant temperature regardless of the air temperature above, and it is this constant temperature that will be used to generate the heat in the home above. The geothermal energy system uses a heat pump to force the transfer of heat. So in its most simple form what is happening is that the heat from the earth below the residential building is being extracted and pumped above ground where it replaces the cooler air in the building.

There has been a lot of interest in the Cost Of Geothermal Energy, for more information click here: Cost Of Geothermal Energy

A geothermal residential heating unit will incur some high upfront costs. However once it is in operation your power bills will immediately come down and you will have access to extremely cheap heating and cooling for many years to come

The configuration of your piping will range from coiled pipes at a relatively low depth, to pipes that push up to 400 feet into the earth’s surface. This will depend on such things as the soil structure, available land as well as the climate and your own budget

If you havn’t already looked into Geothermal Heat Pumps, now is the time, click here: Geothermal Heat Pump

Each year on average 50,000 new residential geothermal systems are installed, with the owners now able to save massive amounts of money on every future energy bill. You are definitely advised to look into this option if you’re looking for a cheap, green source of energy
