There would have to be some volcanic activity beneath these states before geothermal energy could be generated. The other way would be artificial generation of water (sea water being plentiful) to give intense heat. Otherwise economically it is not feasible.

I’m trying to decide what topic to pick for a science project due next week. What sounds the most interesting to hear about out of these topics (we have to pick out of these):
1. Types of Faults
2. Types of Seismic Waves (waves that trigger earthquakes)
3. Causes of Earthquakes
4. Tsunamis
5. The Earth’s Structure
6. Magnitude of Earthquakes
7. Earthquake Safety
8. Causes of Volcanoes
9. Types of Erruptions
10. Forms of Volcanoes
11. Igneousrock features
12. Geothermal Energy
I think geothermal energy is pretty cool, but everything else sounds awesome too. (Well, most of it) My teacher is making us do this, she got the idea from another teacher (ehh) so she doesn’t really know how to do all this and I can’t ask her. I’m doing a poster, so what would you like to hear about if your classmate brought up a poster about one of those topics? Please reply ASAP!

I suggest that you get some quotes on the geothermal systems and determine what your cost savings will be for a year of use. You can then take this cost savings number and determine how many years it will take to pay for the new system. If it is 3 to 10 years, it would make economical sense, if it is over 10 years, I would really think hard about the economical sense.

Gold Wing is obviously not formula with Water Furnace. I purchased my first one in 1986. I had two in a closed loop system heating/cooling a 5600 sq/ft log home w/full basement. I owned it for seven years and had no problems w/the system. I spoke with the company that purchased the home, now a Bed and Breakfast. Both units are still in use and they had no problems with them either. I am now on my sixth Water Furnace system. I have never had an open loop, nor have I ever had a closed loop in a body of water. Although all of these systems could have been in a body of water.
Keep in mind, it is a heat pump, so the heat is cooler than a fossil fuel system but once you get used to that, you’ll love it. I swear by them and many of my friends now have these systems.

A small geothermal power plant in Europe uses hot water from the ground as a high
temperature reservoir and the outside air as the low temperature reservoir. Hot
ground water enters the plant at a temperature To and leaves the plant at a slightly
lower temperature Tf. Waste hest is ejected to the environment at a temperature Tc.
How ground water of mass m kg is pumped through the power plant each second.
How much heat is supplied to the power plant energy second? (hot
groundwater is cooled from To to Tf).
b. What is the theoretical maximum efficiency of the geothermal plant, if the
temperature of the hot reservoir is taken to be the average of To and Tf)?
c. What is the maximum power output of the geothermal plant?
d. At this geothermal plant, 5.8kg per second of hot groundwater enters the
plant at To =79.6°C and leaves the plant at 79.4°C. In winter the temperature
of the outsid air is Tc = ?0.4°C. Calculate the theoretical power output of the
geothermal plant.
